The only pistons I've succesfully had removed are ones with the flat recess around the pins (Omega). If you make a 'tool' for the piston to rest in these area's, you can push them off the rods (carefully).

How did you make your 'tool', was it a spacer and threaded rod arrangement, or do you need more "push" than that? On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:

I think factory manuals show a threaded bar that is used with various spacers. I have removed old scrap pistons using a pillar press. |

you need to heat up the small end so its starting to go blue then remove with what ever method you come up with always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas |

i have a tool for flat sided and round pistons , used with a 10 ton fly press , -for removing cold -which dosen't damage the pistons ,

I have fitted tractor pistons to rods by putting the piston in boiling water and the pin in the freezer and quicckly putting them back together. |
