Hey guys , my servo is giving me hassel I think one of the diaphragms has got a hole or split in it . Now I was wondering can you convert from servo to non servo without changing the pedal box , im sure ive read of someone on here doing it I think they may have made a push for the pin that connects the rod to the pedal , any help would be great *smiley*

I believe you can but it's a ballache. I rebuilt my servo, it wasn't easy getting it apart and less easy putting it back together!

Glad you asked.. wanting to know the same, plus differences in pedals in the pedal boxes?

You can just change the brake pedal. It's probably not a nice job and no easier than swapping the whole box.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

So the brake pedal itself is a different shape/size? I have a few boxes but cant tell the difference?

I know the hole clevis pin hole in the servo pedal box is certainly bigger. I think the ratio is different as well.

Personally I'd just pull the pedal box out and swap it.

The hole the clevis pin goes through is bigger and higher up on the servo pedal box.

Once the box is out of the car, it's one nut and bolt to get the pedals out. Piece of cake, just a little fiddly to put back together (big spring).

Ive messed around stripping 3 boxes having a play n putting a few holes in *hehe!* and never noticed so they must have all been non servo boxes

I've bushed one and was about to do another.

However, the above comments about ratio and hole position have rang alarm bells, so I'm going to have a detailed look at servo and non-servo pedals before recommending it to anyone else.

Right, bushing the pedal does not work *frown*

We've been having sticky brakes on the Mini 30. Tried to get to Stanford Hall in it this morning and had to turn back and go in another car.

A quick trawl through the parts bins at Stanford reveals that the pedals are different and the hole is in a different position. I'm guessing that the servo brake pedal does not allow the piston in the "yellow tag" master cylinder to drop far enough to release pressure.

We now have another pedal box *smiley*
