Hello, Turbomini forum.

I?m a Danish guy, and i have just bought a Mini 1000, an i am going to rebuild / repair it, bottom - top.

But, the 998 engine bores me a bit.
What would be best for me to do, its going to run every day, but still have some power for fun !

I have read about some Turbo tuning with a metro HIF44 carburettor, but i dont know if it can be at good solution for me, but fun - hell yeah !

Im a blacksmith, so i can make manifolds, stainless tubes ect. in alloy, stainless at my work, so that helps me a lot, if im going to build turbosystem on my engine !

BTW : Sorry for my bad english, correct me if im wrong in something *happy*


BTW: I?m living quite close to Georg Mikkelsen AKM Racing, (famorus 7 port head), So i think i?m going to have at talk with him too, but i dont think he know much about the turbo-tuning.

Hi Thomas.

Nowt wrong with your English - It's 100 times better than any of our Danish.

Have a good read around the site. You'll find mention of Wil / Ben H and their 998 turbo hillclimber (before it was wrecked). There are also comments from other 998 guys - one of whom has mounted his turbo over his clutch to avoid cutting the bulkhead.

Should you want the 1275 route, there is tons of info.
Best thing about a turbo mini - and thanks to this forum - is that everything you could possibly want to do in the first few years of 'turbo mini ownership' has been done before. There are also lots of guys on here who know their stuff and always able to help / advise.

So - use the search button, check out the following sections in order of priority...

Thank you ! But a 1275 engine is not quite easy to get here in Denmark, so i think i´m going to keep my 998 ! Plus the 2 others 998´s i have.

But i have read something about Short stroke on a 998, then it can make some more rpm´s than a 1275 ? Rpm´s is nice *tongue*

BTW, wich companies ship to Denmark ? The most companies / shops dont say anything about it on the websites.
