I know people who have reused skins but it was not the neatest job. They used an old roof and removed the frame from the skin then spot welded it but they weren't the most careful when removing the frame and damaged the skin in a few places

Arn't the roofs roll welded? Would take some neat drilling to reuse them! |

I cut an A pillar and roof corner off a car and then seperated it to repair an A pillar on another car . The gutter is roll welded and was impossable to seperate without ruining the lip on the roof. I have fitted 2 webastos ,not the easiest to mark out on a curved roof. I would never do one on someone elses car. |

I just put a lot of spot welds into my replacement skin. It's not dropped of yet.

If you turn the scrap shell on its side to improve access to drill out from the bottom it should be doable, or just cut it at the a pillers. Lot of hassle though! On 7th Oct, 2010 5haneJ said:

yep i did it, and fitted fitted it to my mk1. it was too bad. the worst job was cleaning up the lip of the old already to fit. but in all honesty it was an easier job than trying to clcan up the old wells off the car. i spot welded mine in every 10-15mm or so then rabid a bead if sealant around the edge. its been fine for the last 3 years like that. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

Ah ok so swapping roofs between 2 minis is a bit of a no due to wrecking the side u dont want? Fibreglass skins still around £100? And anyone fitted one with just bolts/fastenings so its removeable? On 24th Oct, 2015 jonny f said:

I fitted one and just tiger sealed it on, never had a problem and you'd never be able to get it off again haha On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

its easy enough to take a roof off to reuse on another mini. but the only way to remove it is to cut it off below the gutter and grind the excess bits off. unless your going down the convertible route with the donor car definitely a no goer. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fusion-Fabri..._homepage_panel

Is it just to repair the webasto hole? If so just stick a carbon roof on. |

Bond it over the steel roof ,it would be as strong as the webasto. |
