I am going to use injection solid fuel lines, about 8.5mm O/D but quite thin walled.

The reg inlets/outlets are only 6mm,why not redrill the outlet to max approx 7-7.5 Metro used 8mm return 1/4" feed I believe?? true but thats 94 bhp
And if the pipe is will only flow as much as its restrictor, why 10mm i/d return when the reg is only 6mm i/d outlet

8mm feed and return. Never had a problem for the first 3/4000 odd miles. Then it all went pete-tong. Ended up with the restrictor.

Its all very good putting I have 10 and I have 8, But the question was i/d or o/d As a 8 mm o/d pipe is only around 6 on the i/d can we try again please edited mine to suit! Basically - easy way to tell if you've got a problem is to run whatever pipes you're going to run. Now set your fuel pressure to a low figure - say 2psi with the engine off. Finally, connect a pressure gauge tee-pieced into the return line as close to the regulator as possible. With the pump running, you should see a mere flicker on the gauge as the diaphram in the regulator lifts. You will probably see around 0.5 psi due to the 'head' of petrol making its way along the return line up from under your car to the top of your tank, but not much more. Certainly, if you're seeing even 1psi or more, then you've got one of the following: a) too restrictive a return line b) an excessivly high flow/pressure pump for the size of return line you're running c) must be another reason but can't think of one
Another thought about going so large on OD on the return line... There is NO point in running a pipe at any point between the regulator and tank return that has an ID greater than the ID of the pipe out of the bottom of the regulator. The restriction along any length of pipe is dependant on the smallest diameter anywhere - no matter how short the distance - along the length. Edited by turbodave16v on 9th Aug, 2005.
