Half price socket sets in Halfords atm, and then you can get trade discount on top! Bought a 90pc set which should have been £120, then down to £60, and with trade it was £50! And the lifetime warranty now includes ratchet mechanisms, the person who served me explained that they had changed their policies around a month ago.

Here you go mate http://www.halfords.com/motoring/garage-eq...iece-socket-set

I have an abundance of half inch stuff i use for most things and for the odd jobs i can't i have a cheapo 3/8 set, but I was looking at decent 3/8 stuff the other day and a nice 1/4 set would be useful to have for the small things, but looking at the smaller sets you get less for your money, I reckon the 90pc set is just about right, you have most stuff available on hand for almost any task to easily chuck in the car when you need it.

be careful with the 1/4 ratchet Carl. I managed to break 3 as the mechanism doesn't like doing much, on my 4th and it's still alive but I have hardly used it

To be honest, i've had very little issue with my halfords stuff. Only issue was a broken pin on my breaker bar which was very much down to how it was being used but that was replaced without question

I have heard that you now need to give them your purchase receipt for any warranty exchanges now

I use one at home and at work, for the money it's great. I've got one that's coming up for 6 years old now and it's been great.

I've been happy with my existing tools, they've taken some abuse! I'll be careful with the 1/4" it'll only be for light duty work like jubilee clips etc

I've got 2 of the halfords 1/4 drive ratchets and both have been fine. Clearly using the right tool for the job helps but i wouldn't worry too much about it. I probably use the 1/4 stuff as much as the 3/8 and the 1/2 stuff only gets used now and then. Probably use the 3/4 stuff more than 1/2 now

Pitty they changed the sets a few years ago so you get less stuff in them. Used to be an amazing deal now just a good one!

My socket set came with imperial sockets si, they just don't do individual sockets i think.

Dam, wish they weren't so fussy in my halfords, the amount of work in going to be doing one could be really helpful.

Without the card dude

I remember on shelf prices as trade isn't a set price across everything it changes between products and parts
