but the spark plug isnt exposed on any of teh chambers, origionally i thought there was pressure holes on one clinder and a precombustion chamber on another, but i had the head around the wrong way in my head.

Plugs are exposed. They point at the exhaust valve, you can barely see it in the third picture. Also, dyno testing centres usually drill holes all over the engines for sensors and pipes to see whats going on inside. The unusual chamber shape is not so unusual to a specific test engine. I've seen some very wierd modifications to standard engines simply for the sake of research and testining
