just had a price fomr admiral for my mini on a multi car with no mods on it at all and my staff discount came out as £195.44 which i think is really good seeing as im 21

but the bad thing is my car isnt standard and they will not touch it with a turbo on

so i have had to look at specialist insurance, just spoke to HIC and with just myself on it with the mods euro cover, legal cover and being able to drive others car on a 3rd party basis came out at £350.24.

which i think is really good seeing as the standard BHP is going from a worn out 30hp ish motor to one pushing around 120hp *happy*

Considering they want £500 extra on my current policy for less power I genuinely don't believe you've declared everything you should have. Although insurance companies do pluck a random number out of the air so who knows..

They don't die, they just get faster!

i work for an insurance company and we do not pluck numbers out of the air, its all down to computer systems and very complicated mathmatics (but i just do the "computer says no" part haha)

but i told him about all the mods told him that its turboed and that it has a lot of other engine work.i asked him how much detail he wants me to go into, he asked how much power increase it will have?

i did my job i can just hold him to that conversation *happy*

hell of a price

Christ that's hilarious! If they don't pluck numbers out of the air why is it always cheaper to take out a new quote with the same company as it is to renew? Or it has been in the past 3 years I've been driving. This isn't a topic about how insurance works so I hope your actually covered should the worst happen.

Just tried to get a call back from HIC and I'm guessing they were busy because i was on hold for ages so I got sent through the loop again and ended up speaking to Adrian flux and they said they are a sister company and they said they could beat the price, gave them all the details with all my mods and it came out as £290!! Whattttt

Yep it does seam like random numbers atleast, but for standard polo its like 300, my 200sx with 280bhp 400? My cooper 300? All which sit outside, not really fussed about them if anythin bad happens.. but my turbo mini which is tucked up n i care for like a baby and has everything possible declared from pistons to brakes to gearbox EVERYTHING... only 190? And has the most inc out of all my policys? Maybe ins companys see that we care about them more so less is likely to happen to it? Thats my theory anyway?

I insure my show mini and pay £196 full comp with agreed value of 10k , the heavily modified turbo scamp with all mods declared £95 quid fully comp . Same company , completely different underwriters . I have never been able to beat the prices , but every year they change up or down by a few quid .
