12HD26 vs 12H959 (+ turbo id ?)

I've just cleared one of my lock up's and found a few "forgotten" engine's.

I've used the guess works link to clear what they are.
(still have a few engine numbers wich are not clear as they don't appear on the guess works site..Mostly 1300A engine's wich i think came from innocenti's ,allegro's and other's. Also some numbers are rusted badly wich doesn't help either)

So i found 2 metro turbo engine's.
one is a 12HD26 and the other is a 12H959.
The 959 engine is complete and removed as a running engine by myself from the 1984 metro about ten years ago, has done 41.000km.

The HD26 engine is bought as is. (80% dismateld by previous owner, carb,turbo,cilinderhead etc. fully dismateld).

The only diffrence i can see/found so far is a verto/clutch/starter motor and elektronic ingnition on the HD26 engine.

Are there any other diffrence's? (better/other bearings,casting etc)

The HD26 is a slightly later unit I believe. They should be the same spec really.

The 959 one is more likely to have a 6581 crank in it but I wouldn't rule out there being one in the HD26 lump.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

I can now confirme there is a 6581 crank in the 12HD26 engine.

Also i can confirm the gearbox and diff are shot because a locplate from the dropgears has been broken and flew off , or the nut came loose..

The engine came with a lot of spares. Including this turbo:

So if anybody knows wich turbo this is... Please shout.







No casting / parts number or id tag on the turbo..

Doesn't look the same as the other 2 that came with the engine, but this one has got no play on shaft etc.
And looks like a decent canidate to use.
