ive been noticing recently that my laptop has an annoying habit of joining other peoples wireless networks

is there anything legally wrong with using the tinternet if im not paying for it?

not that i am of course

if they dont encrpy their network its their fault!!!

ah shit! oh i saw that recardo today

infact theres quite a few mk2's blasting around where i am, i went out chasing them in my van

i need to do mine but not really sure how. best find out really! not that i hit my limits mind but i guess its daft not doing.

To start with have a look at turning on WEP encryption (go for a 128 bit key) and turn off SSID broadcast.

You should also be able to register the MAC address of your network card, then disable access for anyone without a registered MAC address.

Depending on what kit you have there may be more advance security features you can turn on as well.

but dont do what i did and accidently set a password that you dont know

nic if you do that, most of these units have a provision on them to reset the unit (including password) if you have physical access to it.
