I'm going to be doing it for mine. It is worth doing because the studs/bolts don't stretch as much, and you will get less (or no) leaking from the tranny/engine interface.

I have not personally done it to my block at the moment. I have never had a problem in this area in the past, and as a turbo engine isn't going to be revving as hard as say a NA 1380, I didn't see the point.

However, it is always something open for the future.

As for paying someone to do it, I wouldn't bother. Alll you need is a drill bit the correct size, a 5/16UNF tap, and a good eye to get things square. If you haven't got a good eye for square, beg the use of a large pillar drill and do the block that way to get the holes square.

Why not leave well alone, and just buy some 1/4" cap-heads (high tensile) bolts instead? The A+ casting isn't that thick around some of the tranny bolt holes, opening them out to 5/16" clearance will (IMO) make this thin section around the holes WEAKER than just using high tensile 1/4" fasteners...

Whatever you do - throwing the standard 'putty steel' bolts in the bin is a great idea...
