After deciding that the breather was completely in the way of everything, It had to go. I had an old bottom rad hose floating around and decided to put it to use, I've packed the top with wire wool to hopefully prevent too much oil escaping but allowing it to breathe plenty, hopefully the larger bore helps it to breathe that bit more. More importantly though it's plenty clear of the turbo now so as the filter pipe can go on much easier and will pass between the bottom hose and breather hose without too much trouble, more room at the top for the filter too without the canister there. Thoughts?

I had the same issue, but I had a feeling it was a little low on the engine to just pipe it out of the way. In the end I ditch it and put another blank cover on and I've linked in extra breathers to the rocker cover then to a catch can.

I expect that will dump a load of oil.

I take mine up and then through the inner wing into a catch tank.

Can't you just block this up and use a breather on the rocker cover?

Rocker cover, timing chain cover, transfer gear cover....no lack of breathing options there.

Block the tappet covers.

Rocker cover I could possibly do, I'll have to look into it. But im not taking everything out to fit a different timing chain cover and the same goes for the transfer gear cover. I really don't have any space to play with other than putting that hose where it is, Having major packaging issues with everything, it's a nightmare!

I wouldn't either. Stick a timing chain cover with a breather on and block that off. You could have also drilled the transfer case for a breather, take one from the rocker cover or even from the dizzy hole as you are going MJLJ.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Nothing wrong with using the tappet chest breather, just take the pipe higher up before dropping it into a catch tank. That way the oil has got to overcome gravity to escape.

old moggy minor (fairly early 60's ones) rocker cover have a vent pipe, also they have a pipe dropping out of the tappet chest with no canister or early 998 and S has a pipe that kind of loops up before dropping down...

yep my A series 998 just had a little pipe on the other side that pointed downwards.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

I'm not sure if you can do this with the covers, but how about swapping the left and right covers and flipping the vented one so it faces up and away from the turbo gubbins?

That's assuming there's more room at that end.

I did think about that but I'm not sure if the actuator is going to be in the way as I'm probably going to have to mount it on a manifold stud
