Looking for a bit of advice for building a custom GT17 manifold.

I was going to get a T2 flange (which I believe is same as a GT17?), but I ended up reading hundreds of forum posts with conflicting info re: Stainless or Mild steel (or Carbon steel - is that mild, or something different).

So, should I use mild or stainless? Can't see it ever rusting to be honest, none of my mild steel LCB's have ever threatened to rust through. Although, I would consider mild steel + ceramic coating depending on cost. I read conflicting info on which are most likely to crack though.


Also, where can I get a set of the head flanged for an A series? Or do you normally buy a cheap LCB and butcher it?

1994 Mini Mayfair, 1330, Mspd Ph2 cam, Benross turbo head, 9:1, GT1752, TT Intercooler, MegaJolt, BMW M3 leather seats.

Just make them in mild and heat wrap them mate.

Already seen (and posted) in that thread - but doesn't look like anything is happening as it's been a while since he last posted!

Can get a GT17 (T2) mild flange, but can't find any head flanges...
