I was about to assemble my rod change gear selector but noticed the bushes that the main rod and the short rod the other side of the yoke run in were well worn, to the point where they were egg shaped, so I knocked them out.

After a bit of searching I found that rover never sold them as a replacement part, and none of the normal mini stockists made them or knew where to get them.

This is what the bush looks like, worth through to the steel backing:

And this is where it came from:

Does anyone have any suggestions? Or am I going to need to get some one off bushes made/buy a new housing.

What is the OD of the housing the bush fits in, and the OD of the rod that runs in it?

What you are after ideally is either a DX or DU series split bush, if you are lucky it may be a standard size that you can buy from a bearing supplier. Otherwise you would need to get a length of something like oilite and have a bush machined, it would be easier to make a top hat bush on a lathe than to attempt to copy the original thin wall shell bush.

The bush OD is 15.15mm and the Rod OD is 12.60mm

Which looks like it translates to the 19/32 OD, 1/2 ID x 1/2 length bush on this page?

PS

A DU series is designed to run without lubrication so is the better choice here.

Clean the bore of the casing then push the bush in with some loctite bearing fit.

Thanks for the help, I've ordered 4x DU 1/2 x 19/32 x 1/2 bushes, 72p each. I'll update the thread with the result for future searches.

I did mine a few months ago when I was adapting the Mini remote to the Vaux gearbox. Well worth doing, I was amazed how much the 1/2" rod had worn as well.

I had to polish the 1/2" T45 tube I replaced the rods with as it was a tight fit in the new DU's, not sure which was the problem, probably the tube.

Turned up today, they seem to be the right size and were pressed in no problem, everything fits and moves and feels much better to me, But I can't put it on the car to see if it has helped with the sloppy gear changes yet.
