Anybody know the weight of the battery box and boot floor. I'm considering fitting a composite boot floor. I heard mixed messages about the weight saving. Battery box on Amazin states 7kg, which surely isn't correct.

The replacement panels weights 1.4

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

dont do it matt IMO it wrecks a mini,
you would be better off loosing the rear subby and running gear for a beam type made of titanium from uncle carl
is the way to go

I made the decision to remove the battery box either way.

Steve I've already got a 3kg rear beam, and pretty light running gear. I'm turretting and tubbing the rear arches anyway.

I know what you mean though, but the rest of the car is already cut up. Ie. Flip front, turbo box, Webber box, back seats, bins etc.

Battery box is 1.123kg by itself, complete boot floor and box is 6.8kg approx.

That's great thanks.

Is that for a new complete floor, or what you cut out for the new carbon floor?

Be careful Matt! A stiff breeze and it may blow away!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

In good time Dave.

I reckon from the bit you cut out is about 3.2kg, so saving would be about 2kg. That's with a genuine carbon fibre panel.

Worth it? Not sure, blanking the battery box as got to be worth 0.75kg

Remember the boot floor is part of the rear seat, it's quite a big panel!

Hi there,

What rear beam is that? And what does 3kg include? Camber and toe adjustment and handbrake cable fixing / routings? Does it take a std trailing arm?

Sorry for the numerous questions, just interested

Cheers

It's a KAD beam for normal arms. It weighs exactly 3kg, not including any brackets and bolts. They weigh another 2.25kg in total from memory. The brackets are really thick and strong though.

That's great thank you, so difficult to get genuine weights for anything.

If you don't mind me asking, what weight did the SC trailing arms come in at in a comparable weight to the KAD arms, say with the pivot pin etc

Cheers
