One of our members has his throttle-body along the pipe from the intercooler to the manifold (no plenum chamber). Is this efficient (given the use of a plenum chamber), or would it be better to have the throttle body in the carb position, after the plenum chamber?

Current plan is that I'll be injecting fuel directly into the inlet ports...

EFI is a different ball game to carbs as you know.

DECENT turbo engines have a large volume pleunums integral with the inlet. Mickey mouse engines have basically a nat-asp inlet with the intercooler pipe connected straight to the throttle body.

If you look on marcels website, you'll see an ideal arrangement.

Let me see if I can explain this better, Dave, because I think you are confusing my question with a plenum question...

Given two identically setup engines, would there be any advantages/disadvantages to placing the throttle body half way between the intercooler and the plenum chamber, versus placing a throttle body between the plenum and the inlet manifold.

FYI, injectors will be directly piped into the inlet ports by drilling/tapping each branch of the inlet manifold.

I hope that clears it up... Sorry for the confusing first post.

Put the throttle body between the i/c and the plenum?

I'd think throttle response would be dreadful?

I guess it will make a difference, but most car manufacturers put the throttle body before the plenum. I think that is how I would do it. Mainly for ease of installation though.

Thanks, guys. I was thinking that putting the throttle body in the position where the carb would be if I were using one would be the best position. However, one of the guys here has his set up with it between the IC and plenum (and that pipe is about a half meter long!). I, too, would think that that would affect throttle response, but he has not said that it does...
