I have a 998 block (looks to be factory original in every way) and also 2 photos from the internet that suggest that the front bearing is inserted like this...



but I've flipped mine 180 degrees and inserted it like this...



I'm sure the second picture is correct, but 3 examples to zero say it should be like the 1st picture. What do you guys think?

oooh I think the 1st pic is right,

essentially the cam bearing should be opsitioned so that the notch on the Cam journel matches up with the oil feed only once per rotation... if you put it in the wrong way round the rockers can get too much oil.... ie the rocker cover fills up with oil.

to add to this, I think theres a notch in the cam chain end of the bearing, perhaps to allign the bearing when installed at the factory??
