I have a 998 block (looks to be factory original in every way) and also 2 photos from the internet that suggest that the front bearing is inserted like this...

to add to this, I think theres a notch in the cam chain end of the bearing, perhaps to allign the bearing when installed at the factory?? On 28th Aug, 2011 Kean said:
