hi so after experimenting with various a-series engines i decided i wanted a change so went for the new 1.0 ford eco boost, because i think it would be a excellent conversion thats waiting to be done.

so the plan is to try and have it started and driving by christmas 2015
I've gradually been building up most the important parts from good old eBay so far
2013 engine with 6k on the clock
6spd gear box with 6k
drive shafts
alternator
wiring harness
rose jointed adj bottom arms
adj tie rods
intercooler
emp electric water pump
landrover mounts
gear selector + cables

Bits still needed are;

two clubman wings
two front carbon miglia arches
carbon clubby bonnet *wink*

Nice compact engine with a turbo already attached should suit a mini. What sort of power are you aiming for?

What management would you use?... Pectel, Life and Bosch are quite a bit... and I don't know of any others.

Well they produce 125 standard, I know of a few still running standard internals and turbo pushing 167. So I will be happy with 125-140

Specialist components have developed a ecu and driver, and a patch loom, for a fair price

Or life racing did the formula ford ecoboost, but there f88 gdi ecu is near on 2k

125-140 sounds like good fun. Ford also put a 200BHP one in their single seater. It would be interesting to know what they had to do to it.

The put bigger injectors, the turbo off the 1.6 ecoboost and a life racing ecu, still on standard internals

I'll be interest to see what SC have to say and how it'll run. Not exactly the same control as an the OEM ECU has.

Cool project though, I've been stopping myself from getting a fox engine and a clubby estate.

Should be good fun, they reckon the fox engine weighs in at under 100kg with the gearbox so should be a fair weight saving alongside the power increase!

If it were mine i'd convert it to port injection.. every direct injection petrol that crosses my path these days seems to be an expensive pain in the arse waiting to happen :)

Cool - looking forward to seeing this. On paper this sounds like a great idea, me and a mate were thinking of using this setup in a different project.

Good luck!

i have thought about various types of managing it etc, but going to port injection you would be unable to produce the economy and power?

its in a mini, my turbo k gets 50mpg, they may be doing some Di tricks with timing to avoid knock, but the more i think about it the more i just cant imagine it being the case, if the temps/pressures in the engine would induce knock, then they would still be squirting fuel in around this point, and the thing would just be a diesel rather than spark ignition. If you have a look at the piston/rods used in these and the VW tsfi engiens they just look really really tough. and thats where itll make its power. imho obviously. besides if a port injection system didnt pay off, sell the bits and then bite the bullet for the failure-prone Di system :)

Well sure looking foraward to the build anyways! small turbo engines seem to be the future, and I feel youll be one of the few adopting them this early.
