well we seem to be making quite a bit of good progress this month so this week/ weekend we went about fully welding the subframe and engine mounts then fitting the bottom arms and tie bars etc so drive shafts can be mocked up...so here we added the front mounting point for the bottom arm due to me cutting of the original onesthen i got on with fitting the top arms and hilos etc

then fitted the bottom arms and tacked in the front tie rod mount, they are pretty low here but we will proberly have to have another play once the car is back the the ground but here the are in the same place as the std subframe just a bit lowerso this is where it got interesting i measured the lengths the drive shafts had to be so got them as even as possible so ones 11'' others 12'' , but found that the ford half a was a different thickness on the bit we will be sleeving so we had to turn this down to from 27mm to the smaller 25mm so the sleeve would be able to fit. the other side was how ever only a mm out so i had a stepped sleeve machined. thanks to nigel for turning these down, and doing most the work :)
so we should will weld these tomorow..

so we got the engine and subframe assembled again withe the drive shafts in and got it back on its wheel so see how it sits.

not too bad for the first proper fit engine does sit quite low but still roughly 4'' or so off the ground

Looks good, your clearly working fast!

What are your plans for the downpipe/cat as it looks like the front of the frame is going to be in the way? De-cat and re-route it?

Yeah we have been doing bits one evening a week and on Saturdays so it been going pretty well so far, I'm not running the Ford cat so we will be making a stainless 2.5"'/3" down pipe and De cat we are going to have a bit of a cut around and play with the subframe this week to make room, and then on to mounting the intercooler, radiator and gear cables.

so i thought i would plug the loom in just to make sure everything was ok and all the connectors were right and not damaged before i send it over to sc to be modifyed for their ecu..

then we got on to ideas and cutting around the front panel as the intercooler has to sit through it as the alternator sits quite far forward ......
not bad for 40 quid

so im going to temporarily use the mini radiator and see how it copes... and we them made up a wire template for the down pipe which should be made within the next few weeks..

excuse the gay stickerbomb that i thought was cool a few years back but ive grown up a little since... so new wing and some smaller arches will be on once it works...

rads moved back a bit there but it was supposed to be square with the slam panel.

so I've been a bit slack with the updates due to work and bits, so recently the loom turned up from specialist components along with their GDI4 ECU well happy with the loom etc
so ive sent a bit of time getting the relay and fuse boxes wired in, got everything powered up, just trying to wire up the throttle pedal properly tomorow then it should be ready to see if it runs.

Here the fuel tank we made its baffled and filled with foam to avoid fuel surge etc, absolutely gutted i forgot to take photos of it before it was welded, but its slighty larger that the std estate tank but fits in the std location..

prior to this we mocked up the intercooler pipework and intake pipe....

now the intake pipe

thanks again to nigel with his welding on these

then...

then last of all i got the coolant pipes made and tacked in place then mounted the water pump and expansion tank

hoping to try and get it running this weekend

Looks good. Are you bending the alloy tubes, or using pre-bent bits?
