I sold a couple of HIF44 recently but neither of them had the throttle cam like yours. Mine were more compact...

that indeed lookes quit different. maybe wrong leaver. the hole on the inlet is the same as the carb outlet.

not my text nor pic but found this on the web**** http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m20/Hun...esIntake001.jpg

HIF44 on Mini Spares big bore intake barely fits and required careful sizing of a custom spacer (thickness of the billet aluminum) and slight relieving of the intake for the throttle cable to run free.

The lever you have on the throttle is cammed ( if thats thencorrect word)

Its like a variable throttle lever for example
The first half of the total pedal movement may only give 25% throttle movement
The second half of the pedal movement would give the remaining 75% of the throttle movement

I guess what i am saying is its not on every carb and your carb / manifold combination requires a spacer
Or to fit a normal lever

you might get away with moving it to the other side of the throttle spindle

or alternatively there is this type too

Big thanks. I'll try moving it to the other side first.
If that doesn't work ill have a go on what you suggested on the second post.

Never heard about that cammed leaver but happy to learned about it. Seems logical if i look at it from close by since it is not perfect rond but more elips.

is it any good for turbo driving or will it give some weird driving response?

Is this a good inlet for turbo use ( will have to adapt for vacuum take of etc)

Most (if not all) hif carbs ive seen have that lever, a large spacer is probably required, ill take a look at my own later but i don't think that it would catch even without a spacer

Depending on how much extra space is needed I have, in the past "eased" the manifold a little with an angle grinder.

I,m pretty sure you could also grind some off that cam lever.

Adding a bigger spacer infers longer studs and perhaps another problem with clearance on the inlet side of the carb.

Inlet is as good as any for turbo aslong as it fits with your exhaust manifold ( most dont)

its about 10 mm. bit to much to grind i think. but you do give me the idea to divide the problem. if i could get it 5 mm closer and space it out 5 mm more i might get away with it and get the bonnet shut. ( cant get it shut now if i space it fully out) will try to put it to the other side first like mentioned above but if not working ill give this a try.

the exhaust ( remote type) is made around this inlet. so that luckily will not be the problem. ( this build been a learning modding one off build thingy curve) but a nice learning curve though. expensive... but nice. *Clapping**oh well*

Excellent, my clubman is going sidemount so i can fit an injection manifold :)

Interesting the lever philr posted, ive converted modified and refurbished a good selection of these carbs now and seen both these types liseted but never the straight lever one

Hmm. Thinking about it again, there were other subtle differences with my carbs. They had typical Mini needles installed, but may well have started life on other cars. I've just searched for pictures of Mini carbs and nearly all have the cam style linkage.

thanks for all the advice here. looked at all options today and ended up with removing 3 mm material on the inlet and some on the lever. 5 mm in total. now i need an other 6 mm to space out extra. what would be the best material to make it from? aluminium or something like teflon bar?

it has almost no space between the bonnet but was playing with the idea of a bonnet scoop anny way so...
