ok i have seen that a few of you lads seem to put the rod change inside the car ? how do i modify the linkages and what do i need to do it, as it just makes so much sense to have it there rather than have scroll pins come out and leave ya stuck in 4th :( lol

People do this by modifying the linkage, get rid of the stabiliser bar, and then fit a universal joint to the gear selector operator bar.

the uj's are around £40 each from demon tweeks, I used two of them on my gear linkage. You have to solid mount the engine when doing this, so not nice for a road car. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:

i was planning on this mod for my clubby, its gonna be a trackday/weekend car so im not too bothered about comfort but solid mounting the engine worries me a bit. especialy with all the power and torque from a good turbo lump. dosnt it put a lot of stress on the bell housing with there being no rubber to take up any movement? doh! why did i start messing with it!

ive got rubber covered UJ's on mine to keep the grit out, think they were about £40 too, and their sleeve fits the rod perfect.
