I'm after buying a steel flip front and whats the cheapest place to buy it from? and how much we talking?

And do you have to buy other brackets to make it lift up and down or do they came with it?

And when your cutting the inner wing you go back as far as the shock bracket right?

And do you have to buy any braceings to hold the car apart or anything and i take it the to bolts at the front of the subframe are just left in mid air?

thanx

Near Lincoln

i've not seen anyone sell steel flip fronts, you have to make them up yourself (or get someone else to do it for you), so your looking at the price of a full front set of panels

you'll have to make your own brackets, although some people have adapted the gas type struts fitted to boots etc

as for cutting back the inner wing, don't go right back to the front shock mount (unless you can do some additional strengthening), because if you look at where the cross member joins the inner wing there is a flap which is spot welded, i wouldn't go any further back than this or you'll be losing strength (in my opinion anyway)

you will need brace bars for support, even miglia's run brace bars!!

I'm in the rpocess of welding mine up. I've cut the inner wings to just short of the suspension mountings, and I bought a pair of brace bars from Minispares that should go from the top of the inner wings to the front subframe. I also bought a pair of hinges from Minispeed.

if you have a compressor, air saws are handy, as are nibblers.

the most satisfying way of ditching the panels howerever is the good old angle grinder.

you can neaten up the edge of your cut with the angle grinder too if your careful

Yup thats what I did, angle grind. As long as you don't cut too close to the joint getting the panels of is no sweat and you can tidy up the edges no prob with a bit of care

whats the best way to deal with water drainage you cut it all off or leave it whats left under the bonnet and the inside edges do they rot unless you bend the edges over on the bits you've cut
