Mine's been like it for years, out of the heater tap and back into the top hose as I don't run a heater.

the fact that the stat is a flow restriction and that your returning hi pressure to a low pressure zone it will flow |

Cheers, do you reckon it should still be ok with just a blanking plate in and no stat? I can't entirely get my head around the flow pattern.
