No idea without looking on the picasso site.

The main difference I think is the "OPTION" pin, once the firmware is finished, this pin will allow you to switch between 2 maps instantaneously.

VREF is only used if a tps is used, as no one should be using it (as the MAP sensor is ideal for turbos) then it is left disconnected

Depends on how radical your camshaft is.

If it's long duration, the pulsing can cause problems with a smooth signal to the MAP sensor.

You can smooth it out using a restrictor and a small reservoir, but a lot of folk don't bother and switch to Alpha N or a hybrid Alpha N-speed/density system (ala Ferrari F40).

I'm not sure if Megajolt allows this or not (I'm interested in Megasquirt).

I've been doing a fair amount of research into this lately, as I want to megasquirt a single cylinder engine.

Jimmy send me a PM if you want with your questions? Or do you want me to get your pulley machined?

You can, I have heard of people having comms issues with this method though.

But I believe Nic does it this way with no problems, maybe worth a PM to ask him.

Being a fucking eejit when it comes to computers I opted for the easy option and got the use of an older laptop that has its own serial port, quite literally plug in and off you go.

Wiring

The pip/saw wiring, and trigger sensor wiring is shielded and reduces the interference. The copper core from each is soldered to the other and then 1 wire runs to the body as an earth

The std ford colours are black is 12v and brown is earth

What exactly is this shielded wiring? Do need to buy special 'shielded' stuff?

I only say this as on the some of the 'Motorcraft' modules Ive seen, a bunch of 3 or so wires are clumped together and another brown (presume earth) sticks out the back.

Is this what youre refering to when you say:

...does this mean theyre all earthed, or is it the shielding thats earthed?

Thanks in advance, feel free to laugh, I know FA about wiring LOL

Screened/sheilded wire is like the stuff used on TV ariels the outer 'braided' layer is an interferance suppressor.

Yes all off the screening is earthed but the wires aren't, they just run straight from the Edis to the MJ, I only connected the SAW and PIP the third wire I didn't use as I couldn't see where it went to, but it runs so it must be right. Lol

I was going to use screened wire but as there are no other wires near by it should be fine without.

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

The most important place to use the screened cable is between the VR sensor and the Edis

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

As you look at nics picture of the edis module what is the 7th wire from the left that has nothing written on it and doesnt go anywhere? I appear to have 11 wires whereas that pic has 12. Also just to double check is the ground wire black with an orange trace and the PWR wire green with a brown trace? Thanks gav :)

Just though I'd say guys, the Sierra my VR sensor came out of didn't have a sheiled wire anywhere in the system. I used sheiled when I made mine up because it wasn't expensive, but it would seem that it's a belt-and-braces measure by Ford.

Gav the wire your missing might be the one for a rev counter, should be 3rd pin on the left (I think), I had to drill the connector out and add a wire as did many others. All the pics seem to have gone!!! I'll check my wiring tonight. *wink*
