Rough Running - Missing / Flat?

Hey guys,

Just a quick one. I rarely use my car, but since the last time I used it, the car is now running really badly.
It feels like it has no power, and won't rev. It's not popping, but I guess it's still missing?

Part throttle seems to make it rev a bit better, but still not great. Putting my foot down makes it splutter and get all shitty.

I've done the following so far:
Fresh fuel
Checked plugs
New leads
Checked dizzy cap + rotor
Checked dashpot oil
Checked air filter

What else should I check? Coil? Valve clearance?

MOT tomorrow, and after that I'm going to take it to bids, so I'm not hugely fussed.

alex , its a little capacitor that connects to the points to pevent arcing .

The engine is a 90's one, does it still have points?

cleaned the carb out? might have some crap in there?

Cant remember who, but someone had very similar sounding problem on here not to long ago? Was summin silly due to lack of use

I'm assuming its the turbo and that it will have the electronic ignition fitted so condenser not fitted in this case.

have you got the leads on correctly?

Fuel Pressure?

Is it carb?
Have you checked dashpot oil?
Does having the choke out help it rev?

It's a non turbo, but is a mg metro 1275 engine.

Choke makes no difference. Sounds like it's running on three or something weird like that. Could well be a manky carb. Will check it when I get it back from the garage

OK, I thought it was turbo'd.

what about the vacuum advance being disconnected letting it run lean? Air leak?

I'd also double check plugs etc. Do you have another set you could try without spending cash?
