Hi all
Been off the scene for a year or so now after selling my last mini,

have been popping in for a read every now and again though

Bought a Smart car for a bit (Easy and reliable) so I could concentrate in my mini project which is still sat there. Time, Money usual excuses, (note to self Pull finger out of arse and get on with it!!!)

Smart engine blew, lost a shed load of money, so decided to go old school and come back into the fold *smiley*
If an engine blows in a mini I can sort it myself for reasonable money

So bought a J Reg mini Cooper last night, and I?m already looking to change a few things, Namely going onto 10?s, flip front and a re-spray, Not sure If I?ll turbo this one, may save that for the project.

Anyway what sort of options are there on 10 inc brakes conversions

-Old Cooper S set up
-KAD/Minishop billet alloy kits (bit pricey)
-4 pot metro vented kits for 10's

Any others?

What?s different about the last ones mentioned other than the turned down discs, as I can source a recon set of these cheap locally and I?ve got a few friends who are engineers, not afraid of a bit of work.
Has anybody had a go at doing these or buying them? If so, any good?

Just after some decent brakes(it may get turbo?d) for reasonable money

Cheers all
Keith

Cheers all

Carl, Jim and Joey am i correct in thinking with the minispares ones no other mods are needed other than turning down the disc diameter? just a straight bolt on?
Also they for vented discs or solid?

Dan what problems do you have with them?

Sorry being lazy just looked at Minispares site and found some answers to above.

I assume fom the mini spares blerb thet you are all running on solid discs.
If thats good enough for Carl and Jim then that'll be more than good enough for me then.

Other than the Pad filling any other mods needed?

Dan what sort of problems did you have?

£300 inc vat and delivery hmmmm tempted

im running vented 7.5"s,

but the vented route requires is the spacer kit from minispares (£30) and some turbo drive flanges bolting on...

before I had solid 8.4" minispares alloy 4 pots and they were the best brakes Ive ever had on a mini, I was worried that these vented badboys would 'up' my unsprung weight a touch, but when i had the vented discs (again cheers dan) turned down to 7.5", they weighed in at nearly the same as the solid 8.4", which was nice...

also the turbo drive flange is half the thickness, so all in all i dont think its made much difference :)

except i dont expect they will ever fade, as my solid 8.4s never did...even down the mountain section of the TT course, yummy.

Will be going for more on my project
Thats if i ever get the shell done and rolling

I used the fiesta Mk2 callipers on my last car and was pretty happy with them considering they only cost about £16 all in to fit (had some of the bits I needed laying around)

You will need the callipers and carriers from any solid disk Mk2 fiasco, drive flanges from a solid disc metro (not sure if they are any differant from the vented ones), mini 12" hubs and discs. I used a 4pot braided conversion set to make up the hoses.

The discs need machined down and the threads on the calliper lugs of the hub drilled out. You may also have to grind a little off the carriers to allow them to fit round the hub.

I ran this set up with 10" revolutions.
