Has anyone ever used a water temp gauge as an oil temp gauge before?

This is me just guessing they work in the same way. Don't want to pay silly prices for a oil temp/pressure gauge when you can get water temp and oil pressure cheaper.

Thanks

Temp is temp, can't see why it couldn't be used, similarly Eden used an oil cooler and as extra small radiator at the front of his car.

As long as temp range is the same, then they'll both work fine for almost any liquid
