on a mk2 1968 mini on 10" wheels is it better to fit lowered shocks or standard ones? I will have the car slightly lower at the rear but cant go too mad as its on 10"s and will bottom out on all the spped bumps by me.

Patina=old and knackered and won't clean up

First of all I guess you mean dampers. You need to measure. If you fit Hi Los and standard dampers on a lowered car, the suspension could just fall out. You need the shortest dampers you could find.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

I don't think that your clubby qualifies as "slightly lower" *happy*

Anyway with 10 inch wheels I'd also go for the shorter shocks, it's good to be able to drop the car safely to get a small enough space between the wheel and the arch - no more then 4 finger look pretty nice, and with the stock dampers you'll be only able to safely get 5-6 fingers.

With 12s or 13s you could probably stay with the standard ones.

Standard height on 12s is around 4-4,5 with 10s it's even more. If I were after decent ride comfort/reasonable ground clearence that is what I would aim for. At least with the arches that are more or less on the same level that the edge of the wing is. You can always put them lower to get a better looks.

Anyway as far as dampers go we're all on the same page here :)

Not the greatest of shots, but that's about the limit for the std height dampers on Shaunas mini:

Robert please...

I am already plagued by non dimpled wheel studs in my sleep and you heap this on me *wink*

No no I can't help I am too busy trying to find out why my RH hub / knuckle assembly is 30g heavier than the LH, that's the equivalent of a whole wheel nut you know. (But it's only 0.2953% and that's OK isn't it? Isn't it?)

Judging by the post code in his details, Steve A is only a mile or two away from me, save yourself Steve I fear my condition my be contagious, I promise not to wander towards Chuckery during one of my walks *wink*
