right im in a bit of a trouble here, i bought a car off ebay on monday night and when checking over last night i realised that on one of the wheels 2 of the studs have been snaped (leaving 2 holding the wheel on). So how can i get these off of should i buy a neW hub, is there a trick to it as im sure this sort of thing happens all the time on engines.

Also it has locking wheel nuts on the rear wheels yet i have no key. how can these come off?. I aint to fussed about the rear for the time being as these loads of tread on the tyres but the front needs sorting asap.

cheers guys

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

punch the old studs out using a say.. 3/8" or 8mm punch!

these are on splines, line the splines up

then fit the new studs back in using a larger NUT place this over the new stud.

use a wheel nut and spanner to pull, & draw UP
home fully the new stud

these can be obtained from your scrappers or minispares.com

the locking nuts can be chizzled off!

depending which type they are or hacksawed the outer ring off and then use a chizzle!

good luck! no big deal realy *wink*

Just to add, if they are bolts as opposed to studs broken, a good way to get them out is to drill a smallish (say 6mm) hole in the middle of them, then hammer in a suitably sized torx or allen key bit, and then you can usually wind them out of the hub.
Good luck!

not familier with the renaults but if its got studs and nuts just do what as been advised above and twat the broken stud out and pull the new one in with a big nut and a spare wheel nut theRe should be no need to even remove hub. and drilling it out will be pointless as you dont want to drill the splines out.*smiley*

if it is bolts which hold wheel on then do as tom says and you should still be able to do this in situ*smiley*

if you get a blow out then your foamy stuff is worthless.*tongue*

no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.
