Got my car booked in for cds cage next March but have been wondering about t45 instead.
Is there a huge weight difference between the 2 for the same cage spec? If it's only going to be 10/15kg then I'll probably not bother but just wanted some ideas.

All I've found is custom cages but ive heard lots of dodgy reviews about them.

Ive just fitted the Custom Cages T45 into my car. I saw Endafs historic go upside down without marking the cage - thats good enough for me

I seriously doubt it!

Was yours all ok then, I've heard of the being a poor fit (not the t45 mini ones granted) and bits missing from the contents.

Any special welding needed for t45? I won't be doing the welding, lol.

I looked into a T45 from Custom Cages. But ended up getting CDS 8 point from Andy Robinson Race Cars.

I saw three of their cages in 2 Porsches and 1 Mini. They are nice cages but all three owners had negative things to say about them as a company.

Car is OK now - but it looked a bit bent after the accident.

I've got my car booked in on 22nd of this month for a Customcages Historic T45 cage. Endaf is welding it in on his jig, including additional rear turret support, and tied into the A/B Pillers. It's proving a lot more expensive than I intailally thought, but should be worth it. About a 10.5kg saving over my SD CDS cage.

Spot on mate. No special requirements for welding

Cheers for the tag Carl but there's no way I'd drive a car that some randomer had fitted a £500 'custom' cage into.

I'll speak to the guy i'm booked in with and see what he can do T45 wise, or if he'll weld up a custom cages one for me seeing as you guys haven't had any issues.

Cheers chaps :)

It's all down to the person fitting it at the end of the day. Just don't buy a notched kit. You need to notch it yourself to make it fit properly. It's not rocket science.

Warwick.

heard mixed reports from Custom Cages before. At the rally place I was at before, had 2 fiestas M-sport cars done there. The Group-N one was poorly welded in places the R2 one was cock-on

Endaf Owens said he's done loads and they fit really well and tight to the shell.

I would imagine that a lot of it comes down the skill of the man (or woman) fitting it!

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
