has anyone actually broken a set of standard dropgears?

yep, teeth started coming off a pre A plus idler in a 1380 I had, dunno why! the bearings werefine and the motor could only have been putting out about 80-90BHP!

ive ruined 2 bearings/casings using std gears.

Never had a problem with std A+ drop gears. It was always the gears in the input shaft for the gearbox that stripped first.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

12 quater miles... (on slicks)

4 trackdays...

all after 65k miles as a road engine.
