Good day to all!

After a 5 year gap I back to progress with my mini turbo....

I have almost finished the rear end rebuild (rear axle instead of subframe, fuel tank ect...) I will then progress with the front end tubed subframe.

2 points I really struggle with is electronic dash and electronic ignition

After reading many posts over the electronic ignition there are 3 main choices but my question is does this improve robustness and reliability? what are the benefits from the conversion and are there any disadvantages?

The same is for the electronic dash im looking for a fresh look, a more modern look in the old mini could any recommend one they have already fitted?

Sorry if I missed a thread that contains my answers any help is gratefully received

James

I assume you are looking at the managed ignition option? Personally I use Megajolt although there are other options. The benefit it getting the timing correct for a given parameter, something a lot harder to achieve in the conventional distributor. My understanding is somewhat less than others who will no doubt provide more technical knowhow but one of the benefits is better control to avoid detonation

I'd not run a turbo motor without unless your forced to (racing regulations for instance)

Thanks for your reply Rob its seems that its a no brainer to switch to a managed ignition as I have only just re-built the engine a detonation will not be gratefully received at this point. As this is my 1st time of doing such conversion the Megajolt is looking the best option for me with so many people and advise it should make it relatively easy
