Hello, My wife gave me software, performance trends engine plus for Christmas! Super happy about it but my computer skills are limited. Have done a couple of runs on the Khead mini project. Am a bit perplexed by the cam choice. The head with a 254 cam has super torque on the low end but takes a nose dive after 4500 rpm the 284 cams have super top end but the low end though still better than a stock 1275 is disappointing. Also i noticed a couple of things add .040 of lift and the power goes up. add bigger intake valve same thing. So i started thinking if i ground the 284 cam with a .050 smaller base circle and added .040 lift to the lobe i could end up with a 265-275 duration then make up the distance with a 6mm lash cap, you can get them in thicknesses in .05mm increments. I now want to see if the spring will take .385 and if it won't i will sink the spring pad down in the head 1mm. The runs i have done with the 270 cam show 60 ftlbs of tq from idle and an amazing 130 hp on the top end of 7000. The thing that amazes me is the size of the ports its as if they were designed for an engine of 1300 cc at 6000-6500. just for fun i ran a test with bigger valves and a set of custom cams with .394 lift and it easily hit the 150 mark. This model of software does not do a valve clash calc so not sure if they would interfere. I may have to go with the pro software. if anyone is thinking of getting the same software do not bother with the standard program it is infuriating to work with the plus model has an optimize feature that is way better to use.
