Am I right in saying you have Sports Pack arches and 10's that fill them?
If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

You can pop over and swap them over and back if you want. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of. |

I expect the answer will be to fit a LSD, but worth checking the condition of the tyres first? How old is the rubber? If you rotate the wheels off the ground, do the tyes have any noticeable flat spots from sitting in the same spot?

yoko's have been know for batches to require a lot of heat to get them working (old stock) check the date on the tyres and what pressure do you run?

Worth a look at tyre pressure. If mine are too high I end up with zero grip. In the 13's at last!.. Just |

A big thing to consider is the roads are crazily slippy right now and have been for a good few months. !! |

I will check the tyres when i get home, pretty sure they are over 2 years old now but has decent tred left on them. Whats the average tyre pressure you guys run?

Do you have adjustable shocks? If they are set to hard that can cause traction problems. If they can be adjusted try them on full soft then on full hard and see what the differeance is. That said front to back firmness/softness can have a effect too.

Need a some advice please guys I seem to struggle to keep traction while coming on boost, only running 10psi. Running A032 tyres and have the suspension set up correctly courtesy of Wil (again a massive thank you for that) and also corner weights set up. I have done the different driving styles feathering the throttle to keep a nice smooth boost rise while this works i still would like to be able to use the power without it being wasted in wheel spin. Even when i am at 60-70 and i put my foot down i get traction problems. What would be my best options to improve this? I was thinking either larger wheels as i am running 10's at the moment although i like 10's for the looks or an LSD. My current diff is whatever was in a standard 1993 mayfair so not sure what the ratio is. Thanks Nick When you say traction problems...do you mean a little slip, or full on tyre smoking action ? Breaking traction with only 10psi at 70mph....seems a little odd ? In which gear, on a roll, or are you provoking it ? Taller gearing generally helps, so it would be good to know actual gearing. So in that respect a taller diff, or as you suggest taller tyres can often be a huge help Depending on base wastegate pressure you could also look into boost control, and ramp boost in with rpm or speed etc. That should smooth power delivery and massively help with traction ( even if it may not always feel as good to the driver ) 9.85 @ 145mph

Where are you driving? if its on the roads then suck it up till the summer comes, also I had more traction with good road tyres (dunlops, continentals, pirelli however were shit) than I had with trackday tyres Tried A048s and Kumho V70s. Youll need a 13" wheel though to get modern road tyres. Edited by evolotion on 15th Jan, 2015. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Yeah i have Gaz adjustables which from memory are set to fairly hard but i will check the tyre pressures before adjusting anything else. On 15th Jan, 2015 stevieturbo said:

It can slip/loose traction in all gears without planting a lead foot. As for my current diff ratio can i work it out with just knowing how many teeth the diff has? or will i need the pinion number too? never worked out a diff ratio. If this is the case i will get the engine out sometime Cheers |

there is a gear calculator on 'guessworks' site that you can play with to give you a rough idea of the final drive fitted.

i would say around 60-70 of the top of my head. 165/70/10 Just had a quick count on a photo of my diff when i had it out, has 62 teeth and from memory was from a 1993 carb 1275cc Mayfair That's a big range. Stick a 2.95 or 3.1 into it. The only thing I can say for sure without an accurate speed, is that you definitely dont have either of those two diffs. 3.44 would place you at approx 66 mph at 4000rpm 3.1 would place you at approx 72-73mph at 4000rpm 2.95 would place you at approx 77 mph at 4000rpm Assuming 1:1 drops. Or fit larger 12 or 13" tyres. 165/60x13's will lift you up to around 71mph at the current guessed 3.44 diff. A small jump but still a worthwhile one. 175/50x13 a more popular size really makes little difference as far as gearing is concerned 9.85 @ 145mph

Orrrr, you could just run more boost so power overcomes the traction problems Edited by Carlzilla on 16th Jan, 2015. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:
