Hi,

I found that the rightside brakecalliper was leaking.
I run a vented metro turbo set up.
So I ordered a rebuildkit thinking everything I would need would be in it.

Ok, I red the part description wrong so I am missing some parts.

Mini Spares does not sell the rubber that is inside the spacer between the two callipersides.

Has anyone an idea were I can find these????

I,m pretty sure that it is the same as on Midget and MGB calipers so try an MG specialist like Moss Europe.

Did not think of that.

Not the same as MGB I'm afraid, we have tried quite a few times to get these made/sourced.

Hmmmm...
Perhaps you need to make a new spacer that allows you to used the standard caliper square rings?I can't see how to safely fix what you have right there.

Gentlemen,

Some years have past. But the problem is still the same. I searched the internet but could not find a solution.

I hoped someone discovered that an other car used similar rubbers that we can use in de spacer between the halves of the 4 pots metro calipers.

How do you rebuild these calipers?

Best regards,

How exactly does that work ? Is that s spacer or something ?

What does the little nipple thing do in relation to the rubber ?

It seems you have two options:

1) chuck the calipers in the bin and buy some new ones (not that cheap, £350 for the Minispares alloy ones plus the spacer kit)
2) Try and modify the spacers/calipers to fit 'O' ring seals

The spacer is there in case you you use the metro 4 pots on vented brake disks.
Vented disks are wider than solid disks.

The steel nipple is there to keep the hose in his straight form, it prevent it from deforming.

I already thought about option 1, it is always an option but I thought more people are facing this problem so perhaps I can copy their solution *happy*

I going to have a look what can be done with the standard parts to make them work with O-rings.

I imagine the majority of folk just use later Metro calipers which are cast to suit vented disks.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Aha,

I did not know there were different versions available *surprised*

This explains a lot for me, thanks for this piece of the puzzle.

No brainer for me then if you insist on running metro boat anchors!

Hi Paneelmeel,

Just google on words "seal brake caliper spacer" and watch pics.. you will find enough places for these square O rings. I have some in stock here (in Holland *smiley* but just as spare for my own vented Metro 4 pots and vented Princess 4 pots on my MGB V8

I use a place up in Sheffield to make any type of gasket you require, tell them
The application, some details on groove dimensions and they will make you some. They are called DMR Seals. I use them all the time for oil and gas valves, pumps etc that don’t seal or you cannot get seals.

They aren’t expensive either.

Got to be worth a call.
