well now i recieved the central oil pick up, drop gears, and transfer casing we are now finished.

but the first job was to fit the input drop and tighten upto 150 ft lb,

then i attacked the primary gear, as some will no that when high out put is required from ones blown engine the rea bush has a tendancy to split and cause havoc with the clutch ect so i recomended to gav to fit a fully floating bush, the only problem being as it was new it was an absolut barsted to get the rear bush out so i decided to put ner on the lathe and bored out the rear buse to there was very little left then with a small screw driver i tapped her out .

now that job was done i had to heat up the transfer casing in the wifes oven ( when she wasnt in and make sure its very clean from oil or it will stnik the house out). if you leave it in long enough the idler bearing and nose outer trace will just fall out ( remove cuirclip first).

now with this job done it was time to check the idler endfloat which was 6 thou which is ok and in with tolerance should be nearer 3 thou for helical gears if poss, if this gap is two large then check the gasket thickness with a set of micro's as cheap ones are thicker. ( i check this endfloat before i changed the bearings).

so there we go about 15 hours work later and she is all complete, one bomb proof gearbox ready for gavs 200 bhp monster.

but even with 150 bhp and torque it is adviseable to change the layshaft bearings and shaft once a year plus check the main and first motion shaft bearings.
the 4 pin diff should last years with out needing any work unless you are racing or very heavy use on the strip, hillclimb ect.

Just for your information. The bush you're macining out in that picture is the FRONT bush, not the rear :)

It's called a fully floating FRONT bush! The rear doesn't come in fully floating form.

'Anal' is a term that can also be used...

Anal is not limited to be used as a term either. It may be used in certain different ways.

Anal could also be referred to as the rear bush come to think of it.... Luckily, only the front one is fully floating.
