Hello people,

Its been a while since I made a post!

I am currently working on a project that utilises a Deutsch Connector (shown in the photos below). These connectors are brilliant, but require extremely expensive tools to put the wiring together, something that I cannot justify purchasing for the sake of wiring just one connector.

My question is,

Is there anyone on the TM Forum that can either help me by wiring my connector with say 2 inches of cable either side so I can then solder it into my system (obviously I can pay for the work to be done), or know of a company that they can recommend that would be able to wire on a fly lead on either side?

Many thanks,

Billus89

Have you got the pins? I think I know a man with a crimp tool.

Hi Tom,

No I haven't got any pins at the moment, but I'm sure I can find some online.

Any more info would be great. Thanks for the post.

If you have no luck you could replace it with an amphenol plug. They are very similar, but are a solder connection.

Hi, I use both the expensive and the ebay cheapo tools

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Economy-Harley-Cri...=item3a78c8232c

U can get the cheapo ones in two sizes and they work really well also for DTM and DT connectors

If you had posted a month ago I could of made you a set length either side of the connectors. used to be in this game and there are hundreds of different pins and sockets, you will need to used the info written on the side, I do have someone still working at my previous company ( making looms for f1) that could maybe nick what you need, again the wiring that is used for these is US size spec raychem and is different to our wire. Tools for these range from 350-500 for wire strippers, 700-900 on crimp tool depending whether you need 300 series or 500series. The boots also I may have a few laying around if not they are available from rs for around 20-30 quid per boot. I have a few spare insert tools laying around brand new aswell if you can find out the serial number

You'll also need an extremely high heat gun to boot it

This is what I was afraid of, the extremely high cost of the tools required, and this just isn't plausible for the sake of making one connector.

The serial number is,
98-35 FCI 8STA6-14-19 PN on the female and
813071 PYLE FCOM-14-19SN on the male

What do the pins look like ?

I'd be amazed if there isnt a crimp tool that wont get the job done at a sensible cost.

You don't need the expensive crimpers. I have both the DMC ones that cost hundreds of dollars for just the handle without the adaptors plus the cheapo ones from ebay. The ebay ones will crimp just fine. The 14-19 size connector should have 20 size contacts for the 20 guage wire. I believe the 14-19PN is the same as used on the Motec SDL dashes.

Tool to remove and insert the contacts:

The cheapo ebay tool I linked will crimp those contacts and the heat shrink boots are available on M-Cal website for the 14 size connectors:

U can use a regular heat gun.

Hi Tareq,

Very helpful information here.

Thanks for your time to post this. Might buy the bits and have a go myself!

Cheers. As I live in Bahrain we sort of have to figure out how to do it ourselves. I needed a new loom for my Dallara F302 so decided to figure it out and now I made a loom for the mini with same stuff.
