Engine and box out, diff out of the back, speedo casing off the end, *think* you can just about get your hand/a screwdriver in to push the synchro hubs across to lock it in 2 gears, then undo mainshaft nut and remove pinion. Swap new one in, change crownwheel on the diff, put it all back together, re shim diff etc.
Full days work I'd say, depending if you have a flip front or not!

I reckon with 1st gear engaged, It'd be pretty easy to undo the MS pinion with the starter ring locked....

Everything else as Tom described.

you will gav but if you are intending having your big buch of bannanas then i would stick with a 2.9 diff until she has to come out anyway for a look over.

im toying with the idea of a 3.21 diff, at avon i was hitting 7000 just as i crossed the line, and on the road ive managed 105 according to my speedo as i hit it

is it safe to rev higher?

however can anyone advise whether fitting the 3.2 would actually give me negative effects on the 1/4 mile?

3.44 at the moment on 10s

unofunately not dave, i had my rev limiter set at 7000 and i touched it on 3 occasions as i crossed the line on the sun, 101mph was my best

edit-just put the values into that gearbox calcultor thing, somethings not right here then

the advantage of a turbo is you dont need to rev it high unlike NA engines.

eg mine goes quicker changing gear at 5k than 6.5K as it keeps it in the torque zone.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas
