On my car I've currently got 13" Starmags which I do really like because the rest of the car is quite understated, they set it off well. But, that's with the later grille and sportspack arches. I run vented Metro 4 pots at the moment, which are great until one of the cylinders rusts. They need rebuilding with stainless pistons really.

Thing is once my mini is done I'll have a mk1 grille and possibly body colour (old English white) Group 2 wide (or similar). I'm not sure whether the 13" Starmags will still suit it. Dunlop's would look good I think, but they are only in 10/12" and aren't particularly wide.

I don't think I would ever really go for 12's, but now I'm wondering if 13's are the right way to go, or if I should start looking at 10's as I'm going more classic with the grille and arches. I would still want something with quite a wide, deep dish look (6", or maybe 7"). Maybe even body colour banded steels (professionally done).

So, what are my options for brakes? I know there are lots of expensive alloy 4 pots, but I've heard mixed reviews. Has anyone on here done the Fiesta conversion (single pot 7.9 solid disc)? If so, how does it compare with the Metro vented 4 pots and 8.4 vented disc?

Also any advice or pictures on the 10/13" wheels? Was hoping for some inspiration at Himley, but the only cars I thought looked really nice with 13's all had sports packs.

I ran fiesta brakes for years, they were great, I ran groved front discs, ferodo premium pads, 1275 gt RWC and a yellow tag mc.
They pull the car up well, but not all 10" wheels fit with them.

I will say I used all new parts except for the hubs and carriers.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

If it helps Ian, when i swapped from rebuilt 8.4s with blackstuff pads, to brand new 7.5s with mintex m1144 pads, i actually felt that the braking was all around better. But i guess theres less disc to soak away heat under heavy braking is the downside.

I've got fiesta brakes on solid 7.9 inch discs, standard pads. No issue with them, they seem as as good as I remember the 8.4inch discs to be. I used second hand calipers from a mk1 fiesta, some bits were difficult to get hold of to rebuild them, apart from that it was a straightforward conversion.

Ok thanks. If I can get some cheap enough, I might get some in case I decide to go to 10's.

Would I need calipers from a solid, or vented disk Fiesta?
