Morning

I've taken my engine apart and there's dribble of oil under the flywheel....

It's not the seal leaking and there's the splash seal fitted.

The end float is correct on the primary gear. But there's also abit of up and down play. I don't have the tools to properly measure how much....

What do other people do? They are the Minispares straight cut drop gears so I can't fit the floating bush type. The play is mainly in the bush nearer the flywheel but they both have abit.

Is it near deaths door or is there plenty of life left? Car makes 140bhp 160lbs and it was a new primary gear 2000 miles ago. The crank isn't showing much sign of wear only some light scuffing that polished out

Change the bush. If you contact Keith Calver, he's got a man doing it properly.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

Get a DTI and measure the play, otherwise you're just guessing.

There's no seal after that bushing and there's a drain hole in the bottom of the flywheel casing... It's pretty much guaranteed to pass a little oil, by design.

whats your crank case pressure like? id think if its a bit much it may push extra oil between the crank tail and primary gear

I'll have to get some new bushes bored at work this week as I need the car back together for l2b

Does anyone know what size they should be bored? With how much clearance on the crank. Crank measures 1.5" which I assume is standard

I have a oil breather catch can but it does blow a fair bit of oil vapour out
