Ive had a search, but the amount of times key words like 'standard' come up, makes it quite hard to navigate.

Bit of a hypothetical question this, but just exploring different possibilities

If i put a T2/Mirage job on an entirely std (bar enlarged chambers) 1275 n/a mg metro engine/box, and ran it at 10psi how long would it last?

or would it cope fine with that sort of power?

what (if anything) would the most likely thing be that fails? pistons?

the engine/box have done 40K and are in tip top condition, no crunching or smoke, good oil pressure etc.

in short, whats the std n/a mg engines limits?

cheers guys, and apologies if this has come up umpteen times before...

It'll last for many years if all it does is get tuned then sit in the garage.

It'll last for many thousands of miles if all it does is sit at seventy mph all day long.

It'll last for many hundereds of miles of trackday abuse.

It'll last for many seconds without proper setup on a RR...

By standard do you mean:

'a newly buily standard engine'

OR

'A tired old standard engine'

It'll mak e a big diferance to longevity.

They are not ideal, but they will work.

As long as you are sensible with boost levels you should not have a problem, as long as you keep the engine out of detonation!

As others say you have nothing to lose, and can drive about while you save up for a killer engine if you want, or otherwise stick to what you will have!

Half the work of a turbo install is getting everything up and working right - fuel system, intercooler plumbing, etc... It's not a bad idea to do all this to a stock engine so the bugs can be ironed out at least.
