Hi guys,

I'ts been a while since i posted!

I've just had my turbo rebuilt and it's ready to fit. While it was away the guys obviously removed the bolt on bits that they don't deal with, (oil return, exhaust elbow, etc).

Now i have it back they've provided me with the paper gaskets for the oil return and the metal gasket between the exhaust manifold and turbo. I've also got an exhaust elbow gasket on its way to me now.

My question is. Do I need a gasket on the inlet side of the turbo between the turbo housing and the "extension/connection" piece (where the inter cooler pipe fits to)? Brilliant description i know.... If so, what would you guys recommend? I don't even know what to search for!

Cheers,

Simon

well if it helps, when I removed the one from mine last week, it had a gasket fitted; not sure I've another to refit yet but I'd likely want to re-install something to ensure it is 'gas tight'

That's what i thought. Is that one likely to be a paper one? I had a quick look at the part last night but it was dark! I think i may have a few bits of gasket left on it!

If you're referring to the compressor discharge adaptor, the 2 bolt flanged bit. OEM would have used a gasket. But no, it is not essential at all.
You could use some sealer instead, just make sure both faces are flat and clean.

I'd prefer it with no gasket.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the "compressor discharge adapter" is what i was referring to, in less technical terms! Sounds good. I'll sort something tonight.
