Force Racing ICT Dept Manager Miglia Turbo Am frum Yokshyer tha noes!

Chaps, as Im going to be using a tablet as my dash, Id like to have the option of having a USB port to be able to plug in a USB Stick with music on etc.

So my question is. If I plug the following in via the Micro USB.

Then plug a normal usb from a USB Charger Cig thingy. In theory it should charge and transfer data to the tablet.

Am i right?

Can you put an SD card in the tablet? That's how I've got my data at home.

Yeah i could do, but as Im putting the Tablet in a proper enclosure I wanted easy access to the aux jack and usb port. So dont want to be taking the dash apart all the time.

I don't believe so Mike. Setup a bluetooth A2DP client on your Android and stream music to it from your iPhone.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

if your talking about charging thro USB OTG its a bit iffy. at the moment in my car I use an ebay bluetooth to 3.5mm headphone adapter to get audio from my phone to the car to keep the usb port free for charging. shortly I plan to integrate a Qi charger into my phone holder so it charges wirelessly aswell.

Tablet as dash. Sounds cool. Where is the rpm data and speed data comming from? Sounds like expensive adapterthingys are needed then?

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...

Does this require any extra software changes to mirror windows environment etc?

Im just wondering if i can run the specialist components SXTune software in a similar way but it says it only runs on Windows xp or 7 so im doubting it runs on android straight out the box....

I don't know about SXTune - Isn't that just for the SC Typhoon ECU ? If that's what you're using, I'd expect a Windows 8 tablet would be your 1st choice.

There's 2 main Android apps at the moment, 'Shadow Dash MS' and 'MSDroid'. I've only briefly tested MSDroid so far; Both appear to do dashboards and logging, but unless I'm mistaken, it looks like only MSDroid lets you tune. Since Shadow Dash looks like a port of the PC based TunerStudio, I'd hope they'll copy over all the tuning features features soon (if they're not already in there).

I got MS talking to MSdroid via bluetooth (a bit of a faff) and also with a USB OTG dongle (worked straight away). I didn't know you could get the cables with multiple plugs; It sounds like a more reliable solution, so interested to see if you get the charging working.
