Hi all, I'm George and have been directed to this forum by a friend that is on here. I have a 1977 pickup shell that I want to restore back to the standard spec (on appearance) but fancy having a twist under the bonnet. I've never had a turbo a series so am keen to learn and discover what sort of route I should take which isn't massively expensive and offers as much reliability that a turbo a series can offer!

Will be taking a good look through the posts later on for some inspiration. Thanks

Eyup. You can have performance, reliability and economy but not all three at once.

Pickup doesn't look to be too bad a starting point.

Welcome aboard.

Mines 100% reliable when its not blown a head gasket or locked its diff up or low oil pressure.

Had no issues with it for nearly 12 months but not used it for 8 of them lol

What the mind can conceive the mini can achieve
MITP 2012 17.01 seconds 1/4 mile against "The Don"
MITP 2013 16.83 seconds 1/4 mile

Hi mate welcome to TM !!!

I think everyones dream build is pick up based any yours looks to be a good starting point

Dissagree with this though...eonomy is down to the tune, a properly settup a series should pull 40mpg on the motorway, mpg round town is dictated by your right foot

Power .... reliability..... money.....

You can only keep 2, forget about the third

Yes it was at L2B :)

In the process of sourcing a decent a series to turbo now, as well as new panels for the shell..

Dont take any notice of Andy,s comments.

It is only because he builds his engines with a knife and fork and lump hammer and then turbos them to destruction that he believes you can,t have all three.

Really? Hmm... I'm yet to melt a piston or have a terminal engine failure...

Maybe I should have put "lol" on there Andy - you know I didn,t mean it seriously.

You and John showed what could be done with the upside down skip, so no doubts as to how you really build an engine.
