My current tacho runs from the coil. Having recently purchased a megajolt and reading up on it. Is it an easy fix to run my current tacho from megajolt? Wondering what you guys do. Also what cable are you using as my megajolt seems to have a smaller port than the serial port I was expecting.
Cheers guys.

There's a few options, you can use one off the mj unit, there's a way of using it from the coil pack and another from the edis, autosportlabs site list all the ways, might just have to try each one in turn to see what works and reads correctly.

There are basically two types of electronic tach: voltage sensing, and current sensing. Those which run in series with the coil are current sensing. They have a loop of wire passing through a funny little bracket on the back that then goes to the coil. Voltage sensing tachs have a single wire that ends at the tach. While it is possible to modify a current sensing tach to accept a voltage signal, it is not a trivial task. Try this link:
http://www.dinoplex.org/tachoconversion/
There are people who will do the conversion for you, usually as an add-on to rebuilding it. Think money.
The Megasquirt tach signal is for voltage sensing tachs. I don't know about the Megajolt, but I would assume it is also designed to drive a voltage sensing tach.

I bought the tacho driver from trigger wheels (http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/d33.html) but turned out I didn't need it, PM me your address and you can have it if it's of any use.
