Hi guys,

Having some issues connecting up my oil feed and oil pressure gauge.

I've bought a 't piece' from minispares which they claim screws straight into the block..... Well about 1.5turns if that, then it doesn't feel right and I'm not going to force it. Has anyone else has this problem?

Secondly I have the goodridgge oil feed pipe, can someone confirm what thread this is where it meets the block. I need an adaptor so that I get the correct fit.

What t pieces do you guys use? It's hard to find out what threads are used. Does anyone know what threads are used on the t piece from minispares?!

This is that last thing I need to sort before I can fire up the mini with it's newly reconditioned turbo. It's driving me mad!

Cheers

The block thread should be 1/8 NPT, as should the threads on the T piece.

Do your gauge or oil feed screw into the block further than the T piece?

The adaptor for the oil gauge can screw into the block nicely, indicating that both threads are 1/8npt. The adaptor can also screw into the female threads of the t piece. The male thread on the t piece appears to be tapered though?!

It sounds like the threads on the T-Piece are damaged or were not machined correctly. The T-piece should be a tapered thread, which is why it doesn't require copper washers to seal. Your other unions and adapters should also be tapered.

I'd give the t-piece threads a look over for any damage, if they're fine then either tap the block with an NPT taper tap until you get several turns of the t-piece or take it back and see if a different one is any better

1.5 turns and stopping sounds like the male thread is 1/8 BSP rather than the required NPT.

Thanks for the reply's guys. Turns out I've been a bit of a moron! Somehow I managed to fit the t piece incorrectly years ago, and amazingly avoided any leaks!!!

Sussed it now and my adapter with the CORRECT threads is on it's way over as I type!

Still.....being over cautious and wanting to make sure my new turbo was going to receive oil and didn't have a blockage or anything, I have removed and then fitted the turbo numerous times in the last week! This includes connecting the oil return pipe which I've got down to a fine art!

Thanks again!
