Hi right from what i gather ET is the measurement in mm? From the centre of the width of the rim to the mounting face?
So i take it if a wheel is 6 inch wide and has et 7 thats gonna be 3inch 7mm from hub? Am i right?

Now im looking at certain wheels and would like them to fit under standard mini plastic arches or group 2's

5x10 et 0 which i think will only just protrude the actual metal arch? Correct me if im wrong..
6x10 et 7 which i think will definitely not fit under plastic arch
6x10 et 6 which ive seen fit just under plastic arch BUT surely 1mm difference cant be the difference between under n way out?!?

Please explain this to dummy me?! The last thing i wanna do is buy wheels with a look im after then have to get bigger arches *oh well*

If the ET doesn't have a - sign in front of it assume it is a + offset,

Dont think I've ever seen a negative number ? That would really sit into the vehicle

I've never seen a wheel with a negative ET number.

They are always positive numbers, eg 10 to 50.

A higher number will mean wheel sits further in towards the car.

A number of 0 will sit quite far out.

And correct, calling numbers negative threw me off.

Yeah so a 5 inch wide wheel at 0 means it sits 2.5 inches either side of hub...

Where a 6 inch wide wheel with a ET 7 means the centre is 7mm further outer from the centre of wheel?

Well i have 5x10 with et 32 and theres like no dish at all hub is basically the outside of the wheel...

So basically et is how much hub goes towards outer rim and - et is hub towards inner rim

riiiight,

5" = 127mm

127/2 = 63.5mm

ssooo, 63.5mm-32 = 31.5 on the outside of the wheel,

amd 63.5 +32= 95.5 on the inside of the wheel.

both from the hubface.

basically - sticks out + stick in
