Hi all...

Ive done a lot of searching, and can only come up with more conversion related info on engines that were N/A then converted over, so hoping someone can help.

Ive bought a mini which looks to have a standard metro turbo in, however, im looking to reshell the engine into a chopped mini, and cant run a bulkhead box (due to the shell being composite material)..

I was looking at building a mirage type manifold, as the current metro turbo manifold, from the search will still need a bulkhead box, as i need to run some kind of spacer?

Other than the fabrication side of things, is the gt1752 fine on a standard metro turbo spec engine?

Why can't you chop the bulkhead?

if its fibreglass its easy to work with and you will definately need some heat matting on it to protect it so no painting will be necessary as it will be hidden.

I'd get a GRP battery box and cut it and glass it in to suit.

Yes you can run gt 17 on standard metro engine, it will spool up earlier than the old t3 and good for 20psi I think, need to do a few mods to it tho to fit

I suppose i could chop the shell, just would have preferred not to, but i guess it wouldn't be the end of the world :)

What are the mods needed to fit it (the ones mentioned in the post above?)

Thanks :)

you need to turn the housings to made it fit so the actuator needs repositioning, i cut the mounting lug off and welded back on where needed, you will need an ajustable top engine steady.i got one of mattys manifolds and down pipes which fit great and made things easy

I was looking at a Jem turbo at the IMM in Lithuania and questioned the cuttung of the crossmember to fit the box on a fiberglass car. All present assured me that if bonded in properly it would be just as strong.

Thanks both for the help! Think i will look into the bulkhead box, as i cant seem to find any flanges to tig up a stainless mirage type manifold.

Keeping my fingers crossed i can use my metro turbo manifold!

Just need to have a look at what conversion / adapter i need.

Thanks again *happy*
