I am looking for some hex bar for a little project I have in mind, but all I can find on eBay is 6082 alloy.

Now I don't know a lot about alloy grades, and I have had a look on the net but it just gets confusing.

So for this thick bloke,, what I am asking is if I was to make a nut out of this grade would it strip if I was to do it up tight ?

Thanks simon.

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

It depends on how tall and what the diameter and profile of the thread on the nut is. If the bloke needs to stay attached say in a crash i would opt for proper steel to be safe. You get galling as well with aluminum on steel thread as well

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

6082 is your general purpose alloy really but is actually quite high grade and usually good for most stuff.

7020 is you stronger option i think
