Evening all,

A quick question regarding the location of a fuel filter... I have searched and there are quite a few threads that are all fairly old so just seeing if anythings changed. The general consensus seems to be between tank and the pump (as the pump is protected & its the point of lowest pressure) so thought I'd confirm with a new thread. I got one of these....

I also note that some are placed between the regulator and the carb but if I can get away with just the one before the pump I'll do that...

Dave.

Filter usually goes after the pump and before the regulator. If you are still using a factory tank, that has a strainer on the pick up to stop all the big chunks killing the pump.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

That's only about 8mm. Feed to an external pump is usually more like 13mm.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

That filter is far too small for an efi pump, both diameter and flow ability

Filter placement depends what you're trying to protect.

If the tank pickup has no filter or gauze over it, then you really should have a filter to protect the pump.

And with a carb setup, the pump probably needs more protection than the carb itself anyway.

With EFI, the injectors tend to need better levels of filtration than the pump would.

Oh... so thats no good then? I did notice that there is a strainer in the tank when I was cleaning it up.

I also noted that the feed to the external pump is larger than the filter ends.. I thought a reducing piece of fuel tube might be ok, anyway, the fuel pipe is 8mm front to back, flow and return. I brought this one because it is advertised as suitable for for turbo setups as it has the larger 8mm ends.

I recently bought one of these to replace the standard plastic item that sits between the regulator and carb on the metro turbo. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Unipart-...=item4ae74f6a5c
